Hi all. Does anyone know if and where you can read the bible online? Because I only have a bible for children and, I would like to read the real, original one. So, if anyone can help me, please, tell me.
www.crosswalk.com
Wow thanks a lot.
Yes. thanks. I've been wondering that myself, as I did find a Bible online several years ago but have lost some of the chapters. I had found mine on a website called BibleHelp (sorry not sure exactly of the website address), but apparently I couldn't find it for free anymore when I had went back to it. Mine's not the KJV one though, so hopefully this place will have other versions as well. *smiles*

I'll check that out.
A really good site to go to, Ines, is www.blueletterbible.org because they have many of the translations of the Bible such as New King James, King James, the American translation or something... whatever's easiest for you to read, they've got it, and they've got audio sermons online, and you can even search for specific verses! Have fun! Oh yes and you can listen to the Bible in a little player on that website too. Hope this helps!
I don't know any translation anyway, hahaha.
Cool. Thanks, thesongwriter. *smiles* That's good to know that that site has a choice of translations to read, and I'll definitely check it out.

So what translation is the best? Also, what do yoiu think which is the best for people who have English as second language? Which is written most simple?
crosswalk has many translations that you can choose from. You can also chose to look up a particular verse or phrase using all or any of them. I really like the "NKJV" just because it is simpler, but it also keeps very clear to the natural meaning/writing of the Bible. I found many of the new age interpretations tend to stray from the true substance of the verses and substitute words that don't need to be changed.
Amen MP... Calvary Chapel, the church I go to, uses New King James Version, and I like and understand it very well. In my opinion it is the best. Not too Shakespearean-like, and not newagey at all.
All right, thank you!!
My Bible of choice is the NIV (New International Version). I just loved it ever since I got one in grade 8. Or was it 7.
Oh right, sounds good.
I like niv as well I have one in braille one in text that's on the braille lite and one draumatized on cd. My dad asked me how many translations I had one day and in reality I only have two I guess that's all from me for now. God Bless smiles and hugs for all
If you are interested in obtaining the Bible in Braille and/or in Large Print and I think the version is the New International Version (though would need to check again, sorry) and at NO cost then contact: LUTHERN BRAILLE WORKERS, Inc.----- P.O. Box 5000-----Yucaipa, Calif. 92399-1450 ----------------------- web: www.lbwinc.org.
another site you can consider is bible.gospelcom.net. I study that daily and using nkjv, although they have so many version there. even "the message", a simple version.
Oh if it's simple it's good for not-native-speakers. Thanks Raining!!
birdman was just telling me about a site, bible.com and he said the books are listed in a combo box, and if you know what chapter you want, you can just type it in. I'll have to go there and see how it works. I think it would be a lot easier reading online than in braille or records or tapes. You could find what you wanted a lot easier. I use online dictionaries now instead of the old american vest pocket ditionary I had in braille, because its so old and out of date.

Hi all,
well I just went to bible.com, but I find it complex. They have too many different ones, and if you use the search feature, you have to know exactly what chapter and verse you're looking for. Then on the ee helpful links where it says books of the bible, there is just a long table with about 41 rows, but they don't have direct links to them. I need a site where you have 2 main links, old testament, new testament, and you can choose all books by links, and then chapters by links. I guess they couldn't do the verses that way, because they're too lg or too many, but I'd like the ability to choose to start reading any chapter I wanted to. When I was looking under samuel 1, I chose chapter 1, verse 1, and it told me the object didn't exist on that server. Well, just thought I'd let everybody know.

Yeah I tried that one but I agree, it's too complex.
i spoke too soon, I actually did find a link that said king james version. For some reason, i was thinking king james just had the new testament, but therrre is wherre I found the links to the different books. I read the first 10 chapters of samuel 1, and there is a simple version, but I haven't read that yet. There's an audio link to listen to it, but I like to know what player will come up on a site that I've never been on before. I prefer sites wherrrre either winamp, real player or windows media player comes up. I don't like those embedded players too much, but I think I'll check out the audio link and see what it's like.
wonderwoman
well I just listened to the audio link, and real player comes up, and it's read by Alexander Scourby. All the books are in there, just as with the text version. They had a link to the world bible, but I'm reading the king james version now. I just listened to the first 25 chapters of Genesis.
wonderwoman
Wow, awesome, I will try that!!!!
At one point my girlfriend Had the NIV in BRF files for her braille lite, we lost those in a crash of the braille lite. Yes, the braille lite can crash. After doing a lot of searching, I ended up copying the text of the NIV to text files.

www.bible.com
excpet bible.com looks to be semi accessible. I think that Gospelcomms site is much better...
I have been reading the NIV off the gospelcomns site, I like it a lot. but I'd really like to have it in text files, Josh...do you think you could send them to me?
thanks if you can. if you can then PM me and I'll send you my email address. I have been reading a lot in Matthew lately, I'm really just trying to get myself into a good baily Bible study and I thought starting in the New Testament would be a good idea. today Matthew 6 opened my heart and mind to a lot of things...God's word is awesome!!!

is awsome! its the king james virsion but all you do is dl a program and you go through the combo boxes and choose your book chapter and verse if you know them all and press ok, and you don't have to know them all for it to work. And another good thingabout it is you don't have to be online to read it bc once you dl the program, its there. Its so easy! message me if you need any help and I hope this helps
I use www.biblegateway.com and find it really good. You can look stuff up by book, chapter, verse, keyword, and there's even a topical index.
Hi All, A good site is www.biblegateway.com On that site you have acess to any version of the Bible you may be looking for (I recommend the KJV or NKJV(. You can also search for a specific word or words, topic, verse in multiple versions if you wish to compare. I've found it to be very helpful in planning Sunday School lessons and sermons. As well as being able to read the Bible in a scheduled plan. Hope this helps. Donna (djmom)
all the sites given here are excellent let me add my two cents! i like http://www.readthebible.com cuz you can turn searching on and off and just read!
I would also recommend www.biblegateway.com it is always the site I go to and it makes it easy to compare certain verses in multiple versions. Personally I like ESV (English Standard Version), it is a word for word translation like KJV and NKJV, but it is often easier to understand, as it was written more recently then those other two, though I do like to refer to KJV and NKJV as well.
thank you all I'll check them out
biblegateway.com is my favorite of those. I like it, because I also like to read the Bible in Spanish, and don't know of many sites where I can do that. Reading Scripture in another language is a great way to learn and practice. Plus, I've found that there is often additional insight to be gained. I love it.
There are also bible programs that you can load on your computer. The one I use is called Theophilus, and you should be abel to find it if you search on google. It is very accessible with JAWS. The basic program has the KJV, but you can add other versions to it. Most are free, but NIV costs because it is copyrighted. There are also dictionaries, commentaries, and lots of other study aids that can be downloaded.
I don't know if this was mensioned, but web braille. That's a great source. The New or old King James should be fine.
Yesterday I went searching and found one that was really easy to use. I found it at:
bible.christianity.com
Hope that helps. *smile*
The web braille one is very easy to use too. Note, be careful what one you use. Some Bibles preach wrongly. I know for a fact New King James does very well. It's just a little hard to read if you haven't familiarized yourselves to Shakespearian yet. You can get the general idea though.
